Juan Martinez is a Bay Area native and has been working in the restaurant industry for 25 years. Born in Torreon, Coachuila, he grew up with strong kitchen roots. Martinez moved to San Francisco when he was ten-years-old and immediately began working in restaurants. He was first mentored by Joseph Manzare at Globe, and quickly moved his way through the ranks there. He eventually became the Sous Chef at Globe, refining his technical and creative skills in the kitchen. After a seven-year term at Globe, Juan moved on to Tres Agaves, where he met and worked with Jessie Barker and Madelyn Markoe. While at Tres, he established himself as an Executive Chef and CDC over the course of a ten-year period. His most recent endeavor was opening Matador before moving on to act as a consultant to a number of chefs opening restaurants in the Bay Area. Jessie and Madelyn reconnected with Juan and are thrilled to bring him on as the CDC of Media Noche.
