Lisa Pollack

  1. Where are you from? Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

  2. How did you end up working at Magnum? Jen and I met when we shared a bunk in spring 2014 as participants in Eat Retreat, a collaborative retreat for nationwide food leaders. We took over a camp in the Anderson Valley for a weekend of honey tasting, animal butchery, photography workshops and decadent eating. Since this experience, I have stayed in touch with Jen and been impressed as she has established Magnum PR as the premier agency serving restaurants in SF. With a background in marketing and brand strategy at California Olive Oil Council and a consistent involvement in editorial, the option to come on as Magnum provides an opportunity to hone in to what I enjoy most, create messaging and storytelling.

  3. What is your role on the team? Social Media Strategist and Account Manager

  4. When did you know you wanted to work in food and/or media marketing?
When I was living abroad, I had time to spare and wanted to take advantage of the new and interesting range of ingredients available to me in South Korea. I started a blog as a resource for shopping and cooking in the foreign country and with this endeavor I set my sights on a career path combining two of the things I love most: food and writing.

  5. What is the most exciting part of being on the Magnum Team? I am most excited to be surrounded by such an innovative and creative group of individuals who can collaborate on telling the inspiring stories of our clients.

  6. You’re ordering a pizza, only one topping allowed, what is it? Pepperoni

  7. What is a publication you are currently obsessed with? Whetstone Magazine

  8. What is the first city on your traveler’s bucket list? Barcelona. I’ve been fortunate to travel all over the world, but I have yet to visit mainland Europe.  It’s time.

  9. Where is your favorite place to eat right now? I’ve currently been in a dumpling rut and I’ve been enjoying crawling through the concentration in the Sunset and have recently expanded to Chinatown. I can’t wait to contrast new to old when I finally check out Mr. Jui’s (soon)!

  10. What is an ingredient you cannot cook without? California Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
